I received a master's degree in 1984 and I have had a private counseling and psychotherapy practice in Atlanta since 1991.  I became a  Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) in 2002.  Over the years I've written numerous professional articles.  I've been an editorial board member of the journal Sexual Addiction & Compulsivity for well over a decade.  I'm also a former board member of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) and I served for three years as the national conference chair of this sexual health organization.  A few years ago I authored a chapter for the book "Reflections on the History of the Sex Addiction Field" to describe my involvement in the formative years of the field of sex addiction.

In 2017 I published an article titled "A Framework for Categorizing Chronically Problematic Sexual Behavior".  This article has been well-received and the journal's publisher awarded it "Article of the Year".  The framework it describes now serves as the core of "Advanced Topics In Problematic Sexual Behavior (ATPSB)" certificate training offered by SASH to therapists worldwide.  In 2019 I enjoyed the additional career-defining honor of receiving the SASH "Carnes Award" for my overall contributions to advancing understanding of this field of study.

I am deeply committed to helping partners of chronic sexual betrayal heal their lives from the pain of complex betrayal trauma.  I am the only Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) in Atlanta who is also a Certified Clinical Partner Specialist through the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS).

I hope this helps you decide whether I'm the right person for you. If you would like to set up a time to meet in person I welcome you to contact me directly.   I can consult for just one meeting or offer my assistance over a much longer period of time, as determined by each individual situation.

-Bill
